Heidi Clark's call into ministry came while attending a private Quaker University in Wichita Kansas. After graduating with a degree in education and expanded studies in Religion and Philosophy, she moved to Pasadena, Los Angeles, to attend Fuller Theological Seminary. That's where she discovered The Episcopal Church, and attended both silent Quaker meetings and "full blown" Rite 2 services, often on the same Sunday. She left Fuller without a degree, but with a husband (who has proven to be more useful, but just as expensive) and also with a few years of youth ministry at All Saints Episcopal Church under her belt. After a year in Portland, Oregon they moved to Columbia Missouri, where she ran the Junior High Youth Fellowship for a number of years. She also chaired the Adult Education Committee, and served on the Finance Committee. During those years at Calvary, Columbia she was employed by the large United Methodist church in town, doing financial administration.
In 1994 Heidi was summoned to the Diocesan office by Bishop Rockwell, who appointed her to his program staff as Officer for Christian Formation and Youth Ministries. During that period she also served as ERD Director, ran the discernment process for Campus Ministry and staffing, and served as staff officer for the Oasis Missouri program. In that same time she also served as President of the National Association of Episcopal Christian Education Directors (NAECED) for 4 years, served on the Kanuga Committee for Lifelong Learning, on the National Standing Commission on Ministry Development, and as a licensed trainer for Safeguarding God's Children. In 2008 Heidi joined the staff of LeaderResources, where she helps write and edit curriculum, provides training for congregations in Parish Discernment, Adult Education, Parent Ministry, and on the wildly popular Journey to Adulthood program. She continued to serve on the Kanuga staff, offering workshops on Outreach, Marketing & Evangelism, Being a Welcoming Parish, and Youth Ministry. Heidi is currently serving on a Pastoral and Educational Resource task force of the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music, which will expire with next summer's General Convention.
