New Community Garden

St. Timothy's Episcopal Church Creve Coeur Missouri, near St. Louis

World Food Days--October 14-15
Danforth Science Center

St. Tim's sponsored 2 teams spanning all age groups to help combat hunger.

There are two opportunities: a food "box" in the gathering space now waiting for your donations of canned goods to the Trinity Food Pantry and Circle of Concern and two garden plots to grow produce for them as well. Ongoing activities include Potluck Pals, Rice Bagging, Thanksgiving Bags and financial support for the Trinity Food Pantry. The team also supports medical mission trips, a Health Fair for our ESL and GED programs, health education and would like to find ways to work with our sister congregation of Lui Parish, and our companion Diocese of Lui, in Sudan, Africa. We welcome your suggestions for additional programs or projects ideas in the areas of Hunger and Health. John Hexem serves as chair.

Peace Meal Serving at St. John's, Towergrove

 Community Garden

The Chair for the 2012 Community Garden is Angela Mitchell-Phillips.  Angela has a deep interest in healthy and local foods.  In 2012 the plan is to work around new building construction and continue the container garden on the patio near the cornerstone of St. Timothy's and close to our own watersource.  See Outreach "Now" for more pictures and details!

This ministry also encompasses the following:

Potluck Pals
Rice Bagging
Thanksgiving Food Bags
Trinity Food Ministry
Medical Mission Trip
Diocese of Lui
Youth Mission Trips

Potluck Pals(Circle of Concern)

Volunteers buy ingredients and prepare simple casseroles at home. Casserole pans and recipes are provided. The casseroles are brought to St. Timothy's, stored in the freezer and delivered monthly to Circle of Concern.

Rice Bagging

A nice combination of Fellowship and Outreach. We usually meet on the fourth Friday of the month at St. Timothy's to bag up 300 lbs of rice into one-cup servings. A potluck meal is scheduled at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall for those interested, and the rice bagging starts at 7 PM. A movie is provided for younger children. A volunteer then delivers the bagged rice to the Trinity Episcopal Church food pantry, where it is distributed.

Thanksgiving Food Bags

Donations for Thanksgiving meals take place annually in November to benefit about 20 Circle of Concern families. For this program, grocery bags with a list food items needed are distributed and individuals buy the items and return them to St. Timothy's. All items are sorted and delivered to the distribution site chosen by Circle of Concern.

In August 2011, St. Tim's organized a 3 day mission trip to Joplin MO for tornado relief.  Led by Tina Heuer and Keith Boyd, adults and teenagers participated together.  Noah Agne, Brooke Mason, Deanna Mason, and Sarah Davidson expressed amazement at being in a positon to help in small ways in the face of such a huge disaster in our state.
We support adult and youth parishioners on mission trips throughout the world including Peru and Brazil. We have participated in 3 mission trips to New Orleans.
