Where We Have Been
St. Timothy’s held its first worship on Sunday, April 9, 1961, in the chapel of the Thompson Retreat Center, Creve Coeur, MO. By mid-August 1961, services were moved to an old farmhouse on a 5-acre tract of land on Mason Rd., 20 miles west of downtown St. Louis, which is our current location. In December 1962, with much joy, we held our first worship in our new church building, and in April of 1968 we moved into our new, two-story, contemporary-style classroom building and parish hall. In the same month the Diocese of Missouri unanimously granted full parish status to St. Timothy’s.
Early on, the parish was made up of members from St. Peter’s, Ladue, who provided financial, in-person, and spiritual support along with people who were frequently transferred by their companies and were looking for a church home. In response to their needs, St. Timothy’s members developed a tradition of warmth and welcome for all, a culture that remains a core value of St. Tim’s.

Facility renovations
- 1987: Major renovation of the original worship space, offices, classrooms, meeting rooms, and installation of a new kitchen
- 2003-2004: Fully funded capital campaign enabled building of a new, larger worship space and sanctuary, true narthex, enhanced sacristy, columbarium, and inviting gathering space
- 2012: Capital campaign including matching fund pledge from a member brought construction of a new parish hall, fully certified kitchen, elevator, and colonnade that encloses our columbarium and labyrinth. Our education wing was updated as well.
- 2020: Acquisition of a state-of-the-art audiovisual system that has enabled St. Timothy’s to provide its members and guests with access to full Sunday services and music offerings
As we look back, we thank God for being with us, guiding us, and loving us through the years of fulfillment and times of struggle.
