Worship at St. Timothy's
We currently have a 9:00 a.m. contemporary service and a 10:45 a.m. traditional service. Our 9:00 service is based on Episcopal liturgy and oriented toward families, especially those with young children. While there is some overlap with the traditional service, it is unique in style and substance. It is an abbreviated service, lasting no more than 40 minutes. Hymns are accompanied by acoustic guitar, bass, and African drums, with additional instruments occasionally. The music is adapted from the Hymnal 1982, Lift Every Voice and Sing, and other approved Episcopal sources.
Our 10:45 a.m. service is Rite II, with traditional service music, generally from the Hymnal 1982, and the typical service structure. We enjoy sung liturgy, which occurs frequently. This service also is our current Facebook livestream service, recorded by our A/V team and available on our website. In the case of the A/V team, as well as with our cantors, lectors, presenters, and ushers, we have set up a rotation to make sure no volunteers are overworked in any one capacity.
As we continue to adapt to the pandemic restrictions and the needs of our members, we have additional worship formats in our repertoire, including outdoor Sung Evening Prayer, Evensong, a YouTube video for praying Compline, 'Come and Pray' sessions in the sanctuary for quiet contemplation, and occasional Facebook Live special services.
